CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

In 1998, Hans Huber, Walter Rott and I founded ECT. I am particularly proud of being our company’s first expat: I was born in the US, 6,500 km away from Munich, the city I have called home for more than half of my life.

I came here first as an exchange student in 1981. Later, after finishing my MA in Germanic Languages and Literature at the University of Pennsylvania and my Ph.D. in Social Systems Sciences at the Wharton School of Business, I moved permanently to Munich to pursue postdoctoral studies in Mathematical Logic at the local university.

Hans, Walter and I go back a long way. Hans lived next to me in the student dorms in Munich and I met Walter working part-time at Siemens. We three friends founded our first companies in Munich in 1990. Seven years later, we sold these and developed the prototypes and business plan for a new vendor of software-based telecommunications solutions, founding ECT in 1998. Now, as the CEO of ECT, I am in charge of general management, sales, marketing, human resources and finances.

My family, friends – and yes, my dog – mean a great deal to me. As an avid classical music lover, I am very proud of ECT’s sponsorship of the Munich Chamber Orchestra, and together with my husband, I also sponsor new opera productions at Berlin’s Komische Oper. My interests also include playing cards, reading about the history of economics and public policy, literature, languages – I’m learning Spanish –, folk music, theatre, boating and fishing (my oldest passion).
